Disruption as Grimsby bridge closes next week

Work will be carried out for four days

Drivers in Grimsby will face disruption next week as essential maintenance work is carried out for four days on a landmark bridge.

The Corporation Road Bridge will remain open for the first two days under temporary traffic lights, before being fully closed to traffic on Thursday and Friday, November 29-30.

These essential repairs are important to ensure the long-term structural integrity of the listed bridge.

The traffic lights and road closures will only be in place during off-peak times (9.30am–3.30pm) to reduce the impact of these works on traffic.

The section of Corporation Road affected by the full road closure will be between the mini-roundabout at the entrance to Alexandra Retail Park and the junction with Victoria Street.

The maintenance works include a full mechanical inspection and service, installation of a new power switch, removal of pigeon foul and repair of pigeon mitigation measures and disruption to traffic.

Advanced warning signs are now in place and diversions will be signposted. Pedestrians and cyclists will generally be able to cross the bridge, but there might be times when this is not possible.
