Famous Lincolnshire lighthouse up for sale

It is a nature lover’s dream

A famous Lincolnshire lighthouse, which sits on the largest wildlife reserve in the country, has been put up for sale.

Once owned by the son of Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott, East Bank Lighthouse is on the market for £600,000.

It was refurbished in the 1930s by Sir Peter Scott and now has a Grade II listed property status.

He extended the ground floor of the light house and converted it into a home for renting in 1933 for £5 a year.

More commonly know as Sir Peter Scott’s lighthouse, it stands on the bank of the River Nene overlooking The Wash national nature reserve.

When his friend Paul Gallico visited the lighthouse, he was inspired to write a book called The Snow Goose.

The property has been marketed as a place “where you can enjoy true tranquility” and the “excitement of great wildlife spectacles.”

It comprises of a kitchen, dining hall, reception room, gallery, light room, four bedrooms, a bathroom, shower room and storage.

The lighthouse is also surrounded by nearly two acres of garden, grounds and wetland ponds.
