Man remains in hospital after bus and car crash

Road reopened late last night

Lincolnshire Police’s collision investigation team attended a serious crash in Lincoln on Tuesday, which caused a section of Skellingthorpe road to be closed for several hours.

As previously reported, a man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash between a car and a bus, which happened near the Birchwood Avenue junction at 1.32pm on Tuesday, November 27.

The crash involved a blue Nissan Juke car and a bus, with the male driver of the car taken by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary after being freed from his vehicle by firefighters.

No further information is currently available on the condition of the injured man.

A section of Skellingthorpe Road in Lincoln was closed in both directions and there were signifiant delays while vehicle recovery took place. The road wasn’t re-opened until 10.15pm.

A spokesperson for EMAS said: “We received a call at 1.32pm on November 27 to Skellingthorpe Road in Lincoln. The caller reported that there had been a road traffic collision between a car and a bus.

“We sent two paramedics in ambulance cars, two crewed ambulances and the air ambulance. One patient with serious injuries was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary by air ambulance, and a second patient was discharged at the scene.”
