Still two weeks to enter Santa Fun Run

Don’t just sleigh it, enter it

There are just over two weeks to go to enter this year’s Santa Fun Run in Lincoln, with spaces still available to take part in the festive race.

As previously reported, the 13th Santa Fun Run and Walk is still looking for a main sponsor for the event, but organisers say it will not stop it from going ahead on Sunday, December 16.

Runners will set off at approximately 11.30am from Union Road and two laps of the course later will finish at Castle Square to be awarded their medals.

The 3.5km two lap fun run race set around the historic Bailgate area of Lincoln has the capacity for 2,5000 runners dressed in their Santa suits to take part.

1,000 people have registered for the race at the time of writing, which has space for up to 2,500 places.

Participants can still register for the race here and can sign up right up to and including on the day of the race.

Entries were opened on the same day as the launch for this year’s event.

The launch took place in Castle Square on the morning of November 1 as friends from supporting charities turned up in their Santa suits.

Member of the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia Peter Harrold founded the event in 2006, with the first edition having 500 runners, after getting the idea from Loughborough Rotary Club.

Over £600,000 has been raised for Lincolnshire charities and good causes since the first event began.

Peter told The Lincolnite: “We are still trying to find a main sponsor, but since the article about the launch we have got three to four more sponsors.

“There is no way it will be cancelled due to this, the event is still going ahead, but it would be nice to have more runners.

“It would be a better atmosphere and mean we will raise more for charity. The event is great run and people can raise money for their own charities. It will be very festive.”

Any interested sponsors should contact Peter Harrold on 07770 406883.
