“Fast” Freddie Spencer to join motorbike show in Newark in January

A former world champion racer will be attending

The Carole Nash Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic will take place at Newark Showground in January.

Rev up your engines and get ready for a classic motorbike show in Newark next month.

The Carole Nash Classic Bike Guide Winter Classic will take place at Newark Showground on January 5-6.

American former world champion motorcycle racer “Fast” Freddie Spencer as the guest of honour.

Times and prices

The event opens from 9am to 5pm on the Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sunday.

An adult one day ticket is priced at £8 in advance or £10 on the gate, with a two-day pass costing £16.

What’s happening at the show?

There will be a good mix of traders, dealers and autojumble plots.

The popular Scooter World hall also returns, with local scooter clubs, private entries and traders set to be in attendance.

The 2018 event was dubbed the biggest and best Scooter World yet, with plans already underway to make the 2019 extravaganza even bigger and better.

The autojumble is drip-fed throughout the site with stalls inside the main hall, outside and in additional halls as hundreds of traders pitch up with a vast range of items for visitors to browse through.

Both classic bike and scooter clubs are regarded as the jewel in the crown at the event, with collections of “incredible machines, not to mention their love for classic bikes and scooters”.

There are also cash prizes up for grabs for the best three club stands that go out of their way to put on a good display, with an awards ceremony at 4pm on the Sunday.

The event is looking for the best classic bikes the UK has to offer to go into its private entry display. All private entry display owners receive two free wristbands to get into the show on both days, plus a vehicle pass.

Guest of Honour Freddie Spencer will be interviewed live on stage at the event by Steve Plater. He will also be available for autographs and photographs throughout the weekend.

New for 2019

Gymkhana is featuring for the first time in 2019, with visitors being encouraged to book on to have a good at the event outside the Main Hall.

Moto Gymkhana is described as the “grassroots motorcycle sport for everyone”. It is a riding skills challenge involving quick changes in direction, bursts of speed, ruthless braking and accurate control, with an obstacle course against the clock.

Bookings to take part must be made in advance by clicking here, with slots available on both Saturday and Sunday.

To take part entrants must also bring full riding gear, their licence.
