Update: An inquest was opened on Wednesday morning. It was adjourned for a provisional date in six months, which has yet to be set.
An inquest is set to open on Wednesday into the death of a 16-year-old girl who died after being hit by a lorry in a Lincolnshire village earlier this month.
As previously reported, Eliza May Bill was hit by a lorry in the village of Osbournby near Sleaford on Monday, December 3.
Coroner T Brennand will open an inquest on Wednesday, December 12 at Lincolnshire Coroners Court to start proceedings into trying to establish the events leading up to the death of the teenager from Threekingham.
A 14-year-old girl is also understood to have been involved in the crash, suffering minor injuries.
The young girl’s family previously released a tribute saying “Eliza was the most beautiful soul” who “touched the hearts of all who knew her with kindness and caring”.
The news caused a large response from people across the county, with one person taking action by starting a petition to get a pedestrian crossing in the village.
Hayley Connor started the petition last week, which has now been signed by over 2,260 people.

North Kesteven District Council previously said once the petition has been received it will be passed on to Lincolnshire County Council as the Highways authority.
Executive Member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, Councillor Richard Davies, said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with those involved and their families and friends.
“A police investigation is currently underway, and once we have the results of this, we will explore the options for making this section of road safer all those using it.”
