Heartbreak as body found confirmed as Amy Gerard

It was confirmed by DNA results

DNA results confirmed the body found in Tenerife is that of Amy Louise Gerard.

DNA tests have confirmed the body found in Tenerife earlier this month is that of missing Cleethorpes woman and Lincoln graduate Amy Gerard.

As previously reported, an earlier post mortem carried out on a body pulled out of the sea in Tenerife proved inconclusive.

Police had been keeping all lines of enquiries open after the body was found during the search for killer whale trainer Amy from Cleethorpes, but it has since been identified as her.

Her family said in a statement: “The DNA results confirm our worst nightmare and we are all heartbroken that Amy is no longer with us.

“The police investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to share at this time.”

Amy worked at Tenerife’s Loro Parque marine theme park.

The 28-year-old who worked at Tenerife’s Loro Parque marine theme park was last seen outside Irish br Molly Malone in Puerto de La Cruz.

Amy, who studied animal behaviour science at the University of Lincoln, left the bar just after midnight on Friday, November 30 with her boyfriend Dennis Kissling. She was not seen again after they went their separate ways.

Chief Executive of the Lucie Blackman Trust Matthew Searle MBE said: “This is the worst news for the family just before Christmas.

“The thoughts of all of us here at the charity are with Amy’s family and we continue to support them. The family have asked for privacy and we hope this is afforded them.”
