A recap of the key details we know so far

Police trickled through several pieces of information on Wednesday about the fire that claimed three lives in Kirton near Boston on New Years day.

Here is a recap of the key details we know so far of the Peartree Road incident from 3am on January 1:

  • A total of five people were in the house when the blaze started
  • Three people died in the fire — all were British
  • The fatalities were a woman (27), and two men (24 and 32)
  • Police have not released their names yet
  • Two other people taken to hospital survived the blaze and have been discharged
  • Police are treating the incident as a domestic murder
  • Officers believe the suspected murderer died in the house fire
  • No other suspects are sought at this stage
  • Because of the damage from the fire, establishing the cause “might take a few days”
  • Fire investigators remain at the scene
