Forecasters say there is a small chance of travel disruption on Tuesday night as rain turns to snow and temperatures plummet.

Snow overnight will be patchy, but could settle with a covering of between 3 and 5cm.

Snow showers and icy conditions have already begun to sweep the UK. Roads have been closed in Scotland, Northern England and Wales.

Emergency services have been urging people to take extra care on the roads.

People have also been reminded to be mindful of vulnerable people in their local community in sub-zero temperatures.
