A police hunt is underway after eight people were seen running from a lorry container on the A17 in Lincolnshire.
Two people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of entering the UK illegally with police currently searching for six others.
Sightings were reported on the A17 Main Road in Fosdyke at 1.19pm on Tuesday January 8.
They were heading down the A17 towards the Holbeach area. They could be in the Moulton Seas End area or neighbouring villages or fields, Lincolnshire Police said.
A search is underway by local officers, and officers from EMOPSS, including a dog handler. A National Police Air Service helicopter is also assisting with the search.
The individuals are reportedly wearing dark clothing and may be in need of medical treatment according to police.
Boston Inspector Andy Morrice said: “We are asking residents to check their outbuildings and gardens. If anyone sees anyone acting suspiciously they should call us.”
Anyone who suspects they have seen one of these people should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 192 of January 8.
Recent Mablethorpe case
Lincolnshire Police is meeting with Border Force to discuss how to deal with migrants arriving in the county by boat after four Iranian men were arrested when they came ashore near Mablethorpe last month.
It’s believed they entered the UK illegally. The police are now working with other agencies to deal with any future cases.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas — but not as much in Lincoln — tainted by the absence of the country’s oldest festive market, which was cancelled over safety concerns. Yes, this means that the 2023 Lincolnshire Christmas Market will not take place from Thursday.
With tens of thousands of people googling Christmas markets, it is unsurprising to see a flurry of stories in the nationals about City of Lincoln Council’s decision to cancel the 40-year-old event, which attracted more than 350,000 people in four days last year, and reportedly generated around £15 million for the local economy.
Seeing family, being cosy by the fire, and fun in the snow, contrasted with dark mornings and cold weather, are among the most loved — and hated — things about winter for people in Lincoln.
New research shows that 81% of people admitted they hate the winter season. According to a poll of 2,000 by the Post Office, dark mornings (49%), slipping on ice (44%), and having a cold face (41%), runny nose (38%), and paying the heating bills (34%) are considered the worst things about winter.
