Armed police in Gainsborough find no ‘man with weapon’

False alarm

Several armed police units attended reports of an armed man in Gainsborough on Tuesday afternoon — but they found no weapons.

Officers were called to Trinity Street with the junction of Southolme, including armed officers.

It happened after 4pm on February 12.

Lincolnshire Police said in a statement: “All reports are taken seriously but in this case no weapon was found and no arrests were made.”

There was however another incident emergency services attended around the same time on Tennyson Street, which involved a pedestrian hit by a car.

The injured person was taken to Lincoln County Hospital for treatment.
