Two sections of the A46 near Newark have been closed off after a collision between a lorry, a van and two cars.
The crash happened between the A617 and the A1 just after 2pm on Friday, March 8.
Highways England said Nottinghamshire Police officers have arrived at the scene and are dealing with the incident.
The A46 is closed northbound at the A617 junction and southbound at the A1 junction.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said the bridge has been damaged: “The A46 is currently blocked between the Cattle Market and Brownhills thankfully there are no serious injuries.
“The bridge has been damaged so the road will reopen as soon as the vehicles have been recovered and is safe to do so. Please avoid if at all possible.”
