Boston Stump donation box “dragged into toilets” and raided

The brand new donation box cost £1,500

A donation box at Boston Stump was “dragged into the toilets” and raided by thieves.

Volunteers at St Botolph’s Church, known locally as Boston Stump, estimate that around £200 was stolen.

The brand new donation box itself, which costs around £1,500, was badly damaged and will need to be repaired.

Alyson Buxton, team rector at Boston Stump, told Lincolnshire Reporter that they are “absolutely gutted.”

She said: “We have been trying really hard while the restoration is underway to keep in high spirits.

The church is in the middle of a major restoration project.

“Everyone is absolutely gutted and very frustrated that someone could do something like this.”

Lincolnshire Police has been informed of the incident and are now investigating. Anyone with information should contact the force on 101.

As previously reported, it’s not the first time that money was taken from donation boxes in Boston Stump.
