Fire crews attend Grantham building blaze

Roads closed in the area

Several fire crews are attending a large fire causing toxic fumes at the Environcom site in Grantham on Monday morning.

Local residents nearby are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue sent nine crews to the building on Great North Road in Grantham. An additional crew with an aerial ladder was also sent to the scene.

The building measures 200 x 150 metres and the fire is located in machinery in the building.

Police confirmed that Spittlegate Level is currently closed due to the fire at the nearby premises.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue requested 10 pumps from crews in Bourne, Sleaford Oakham, Nottingham, Bingham, Stamford and Deeping.

Four breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet are currently in use.

It is also affecting some local buses which are being diverted away from the scene.

The extent of the damage caused by the fire or whether there were any injuries is not known at the time of writing.
