New artisan bakery to open on Steep Hill

It will be the only bakery in the city centre when it opens later this year

Work has started on a new artisan bakery, which will open on Steep Hill later this year.

Vine’s Bakery is opening in place of Bird’s Yard after the independent gift shop closed at the end of February.

They will sell sourdough, rye, challah, bagel, croissant, Lincolnshire plum loaf and other daily specials.

Vine’s will be the only artisan bakery in the city centre after Tickleberry Lane closed in October last year.

Emma Vine, the owner, has lots of experience and is the fifth generation of family bakers.

She wants to follow in the footsteps of her great-great grandfather Edwin Vine, who opened the first shop in 1904.
