A huge blaze is ripping its way through a scrap yard in Newark.
Dramatic pictures and videos have emerged from the site of Brigg Metals Limited, on Great North Road, near to the Lincolnshire border.
Fire crews from across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire were called to the large industrial fire involving 1,000 tonnes of metal at 11.15am on Wednesday. Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said at around 3pm on April 17 that 12 fire engines are currently dealing with the fire.
Black smoke and orange flames appear to be coming from the top of a big metal pile at the scrap yard.
The A616 Great North Road is currently closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. Nottinghamshire Police is assisting the fire and rescue service with a road closure on Great North Road, between the A46 roundabout and South Muskham, to allow the fire service to tackle the blaze.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue first arrived at the scene with eight fire engines and more than 40 firefighters.
