Overnight closure to replace ‘worn out’ Lincoln village road

Some drivers will see their journey times doubled

A busy Lincoln road will be closed overnight for five weeks for resurfacing works, doubling journey times for some drivers.

The A158 carriageway in Rand between the Green Café layby and Goltho Gardens will be closed from April 29 for five weeks.

It will be closed Monday to Friday from 7pm to 6am, depending on weather conditions.

A diversion route will be in place for cars through the A158, A46 Welton Road, A631 Gainsborough Road to the B1202 and vice versa.

Drivers travelling from Wragby to Lincoln will see their journey time increase from 24 minutes to 46 minutes without traffic.

Lorry drivers will be diverted through the B1225 to the A46 Caistor road and vice versa.

There are separate diversion routes for cars and lorries.

Councillor Richard Davies said: “Sections of the A158 through Rand are nearing the end of their serviceable life, so we’ll be reconstructing part of the road to ensure safer, more comfortable journeys in the future.

“We’ll be doing everything we can to minimise disruption, including carrying the works out overnight and maintain access for residents and emergency vehicles.

“However, we know this may cause some inconvenience, so ask for your continued patience while these works are carried out.”
