Woman hospitalised in rush hour A46 crash

The road was damaged

A woman was injured in a serious crash near Lincoln, leading to several miles of rush hour delays.

Two cars were involved in the collision on the A46 Lincoln Bypass at around 8am on Friday, April 26.

It happened between the Swinderby and Pennells roundabout and the road was closed for around two hours, causing miles of tailbacks.

An air ambulance was deployed to the scene and police advised drivers to find alternative routes.

Police said the incident also left the road damaged.

Lincolnshire Police said in a statement: “Thank you to everyone for your patience on the A46 today. It is now fully open following severe delays after the two car collision which required recovery and left the road damaged.

“A woman has been taken to hospital for treatment.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision who has not yet spoken to police is urged to call with incident reference 56.”
