Answering High Street’s call: Fone Doctor on the move

The new shop will open on Friday

Expanding mobile phone repairs and accessories business Fone Doctor has relocated into the former Gametronics outlet on the Lincoln High Street.

As previously reported, Gametronics, a brand owned by Game, traded for the last time in the unit opposite House of Fraser on Saturday, March 30.

Fone Doctor has moved from its old shop in the Sincil Street area and will open in the 1,152 sq ft unit on Friday, May 24.

Fone Doctor Director Colin Hocknell employs 35 staff across his own stores. He has taken on two extra staff for this High Street outlet.

Colin, who started the business 28 years ago in Lincoln Market, said: “We have three in the Lincoln area, one based within Tesco’s Wragby Road site, another in North Hykeham and our new, larger city centre shop.

“As a business, I and my fellow directors had been searching for alternative central premises in Lincoln for some time. We now have one in a prime location which, hopefully, will attract extra footfall.”

Fone Doctor has 11 of its own stores and five franchised outlets further afield. It focuses on repairs of mobile phones, consoles, laptops and tables. It also sells pay-as-you-go mobiles, batteries and accessories including screen savers, data leads and charger packs.

Chartered surveyor Banks Long & Co acted for its client Lincolnshire Co-op in leasing the outlet.

Director at Banks Long & Co Lewis Cove said: “Despite the challenges facing the ever-changing retail market, Fone Doctor’s move is another example of how Lincoln continues to buck national trends and attract both new and expanding national and independent businesses, who are always looking for good locations where they can capture the best footfall, including passing trade. We wish Colin and his team increasing success in the future.”
