‘Idiotic’ Brexiteers vandalise town sculptures

They have been slammed by the town’s MP

Vandals scrawled pro Brexit messages on metal sculptures in Boston.

They sprayed the words “WTO Brexit Now” on the shepherd and his entire flock in the town.

Local residents made the discovery on Thursday, May 2 and were shocked that the sculptures had been hit by political vandals.

Boston’s MP Matt Warman has also spoken out publicly against the graffiti on Twitter.

Boston Borough Council has already sent out a maintenance team to the statues, which have since been cleaned.

Matt Warman wrote on social media: “This is inexcusable, idiotic behaviour, whatever you think of Brexit.”

The sculptures have stood proudly in the town for three years, and were paid for by local resident to celebrate Boston’s history of sheep farming.

Jocelyn Lawman, a local artist who designed the statues, told Lincolnshire Reporter: “This is mindless vandalism, aimed at people who willingly give their time to make our town better for everyone.

“When I saw it on the school run I felt like a school bully had destroyed my work in front of me in a tantrum.

“I felt very sorry for all the people who worked hard to create the roundabout sculptures and every Bostonian that has come to love them.

“I hope whoever is responsible feels embarrassed by their behaviour.”

Boston is the most Eurosceptic town in the country, voting 76% in favour of leaving the European Union in 2016.

If the UK left the EU without a deal, it would automatically fall back onto the World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules.
