Police arrest violent man armed with hammer and tin opener

He became violent on arrest

A violent man armed with a hammer and a metal tin opener in Lincoln was arrested.

Police were deployed in the city at around 6.57pm on Tuesday, May 7 after reports of a man who had a hammer and a tin opener concealed in his jacket on Friars Lane in Lincoln. The 23-year-old suspect was located and the weapons were recovered.

Sergeant Mike Templeman from Lincolnshire Police posted on Twitter saying the suspect “became violent on arrest and had to be restrained”.

He added that the man also spat in the van and was further arrested for criminal damage.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage. He remains in custody and is being questioned by officers.”
