Boy, 7, ‘elbowed in face, spat on and racially abused’

A horrific assault

A seven-year-old boy was allegedly elbowed in the face, spat on and racially abused by three teenagers in a Grimsby park.

It was reported to have happened in the Grant Thorold Park on Durban Road near the children’s play area at around 5.30pm on Sunday, June 23. The boy suffered a bruise to his forehead.

The boy was in the park with his mother and siblings at the time. Police said it’s thought racially abusive terms were said to the boy who is from eastern Europe.

The teenagers, all boys and possibly aged between 16 and 18, were wearing dark clothing and riding bikes. Two of them were on black bikes and the third was on an orange one.
