Experts warn of more floods to come

Wainfleet is just starting to recover

Weather experts are warning that more homes and businesses could be hit by flooding.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms starting at 3pm on Sunday, June 23 until midnight the next day.

Experts have warned of quick flooding, lighting strikes, hail and strong winds as the new weather front moves in.

Scattered heavy showers could also hit parts of Lincolnshire, with up to 40mm of rain expected in just two to three hours.

Wainfleet is starting to recover from the floods which saw around 1,000 homes evacuated.

Many have been told they will not be able to return to their properties until Monday.

Local heroes and emergency services have been working hard to deliver sandbags to flooded homes and stem the flow of water from the River Steeping after it broke its bank.
