Convicted rapist on the loose for nearly a month

There is a £1,000 reward for his capture

A convicted rapist is still on the run almost a month after absconding from an open prison in Boston.

Stephen Tierney, 39, did not return to HMP North Sea Camp on Wednesday, July 3 and has been missing ever since. Officers are currently following up inquiries in the London area.

Crimestoppers previously said it was offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information given exclusively to them that leads to his arrest.

Officers are investigating potential sightings in the Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire areas – Tierney has links to all of these areas and London.

People are advised not to approach Tierney, who also has links to Lincolnshire. He is described as posing a medium risk of violence.

Police have released a new picture of Stephen Tierney.

Tierney, who was last seen in Boston Market Place on July 3, is described as around five foot seven inches tall and of small build with brown/ginger hair. He also has a tattoo saying “wrist” on his right arm.

Lincolnshire Police have been working with their colleagues in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and the British Transport Police.

Harborough Police in Leicestershire worked with Lincolnshire Police earlier this month and numerous addresses were visited.

Officers are urging Tierney to hand himself in immediately and advise that anyone found to be assisting him to evade capture will be subject to prosecution. This carries a maximum sentence of 14 years imprisonment.

Any sightings or information should be reported to Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 316 of July 3, or in an emergency call 999.
