Extra £235k to continue Sincil Bank improvements

It’s already starting to pay off

An extra £235,899 has been awarded to the Sincil Bank Community Partnership to enhance the area.

The funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government will support a range of activities involving local organisations such as Developmentplus, Lincoln City Foundation, Voluntary Centre Services and St Peter at Gowts Church of England Primary School.

Paul Carrick, Neighbourhood Manager – Sincil Bank at City of Lincoln Council, said: “We are pleased to have received this fantastic amount of funding to continue our all-important improvements in Sincil Bank.

“This funding will support a range of activities that will help to integrate members of the community, as well as provide language support, information services and finding hidden talents in the area.

“Since the launch of Sincil Bank’s Place Shaping Strategy in 2017, the area has undergone significant improvements and thanks to this additional funding, we will continue to enhance the area into something its residents can be proud of.”

So far…

In December 2018, the Sincil Bank Community Hub opened on Portland Street to provide the community with advice and guidance on matters and improvements within the area.

Sincil Bank has introduced CCTV cameras on Portland Street and Hermit Street which has led to the identification of a number of graffiti and fly-tipping culprits.

Sincil Community Land Trust is leading on its first project within Sincil Bank and has secured £25,500 of external funding to transform the former play area on St Andrews Close and develop it as a social space.

Investors in Lincoln, Leap and City of Lincoln Council invested £50,000 to make a Community Chest, which has funded a number of community events, youth groups, a community newsletter and projects such as the Virgin Media boxes.
