One week to go: Dragon boaters stretch their wings

Who’s ready to race!?

Lincoln teams are eagerly awaiting the arrival of 30-foot brightly coloured Chinese dragon boats, which will take to the Brayford for a charity race.

The boats will arrive next Saturday and will make up the fourth annual Lincoln Dragon Boat Race.

The event, organised by local Solicitors Ringrose Law, is becoming one of the biggest events in the city’s summer calendar.

This year there will be 16 local teams representing businesses across Lincolnshire, competing to be crowned the 2019 Lincoln Dragons.

The event will be raising money for two local charities, the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and Nomad, part of YMCA Lincolnshire.

As well as a full day of racing, there will be various activities for all the family throughout the day, including the mobile climbing wall placed along the Brayford Waterfront along with stalls and activities for families.

The racing starts from 12 noon and a full schedule of racing will be available on the day.

Tanya Taylor from the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance said: “We are delighted that so many local companies and organisations are supporting this event. Through their generosity we hope to raise a significant sum of funds for ourselves and Nomad.”

John Knight, Partner at Ringrose Law, added: “We look forward to another dragon boat spectacular raising money for these great charities. If you haven’t been before it is certainly one not to miss! ”

Racing starts from 12noon along the Brayford Waterfront.
