Travel chaos on Newark Road after smash

A first aider reported seeing one car driving on the wrong side of the road

A car was reportedly seen driving ‘on the wrong side of the road’ before crashing with another vehicle on Newark Road this morning.

The collision, which is believed to have involved one other car, happened just outside the Lidl supermarket just before 10am.

Police and ambulances are on the scene at the time of writing treating those involved.

Drivers are being warned to avoid the area while the cars involved are recovered.

A first aider who rushed to the cars to check on people inside.

He told reporters that he had seen the car travelling on the wrong side of the road before the smash.

Lincolnshire Police have not confirmed reports circulating online that the crash involved a drink driver.

Hykeham Police responded to claims from people on social media of drink driving to say “that is not correct information”. They advised others to remove incorrect posts.
