Convicted rapist hiding in Lincoln after recall to prison

Do not approach him, police say

Lincolnshire Police believe that a wanted rapist could be on the loose in Lincoln or Gainsborough after he failed to comply with his probation conditions.

UPDATE ON AUGUST 29 at 10am: Police have arrested him in Lincoln on Wednesday evening

William Clawson, 27, was released from prison on January 17 after serving a seven-year sentence for the rape of a woman in the city.

Shortly after he was sent back to prison from March 15 to March 28 for three breaches of failing to notify the police about his address, threatening behaviour and battery.

He is believed to pose a significant risk to women and officers have warned anyone who sees him to not approach but to call them.

Clawson is managed by Lincolnshire Police’s Management Of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders Unit.

Police charged Clawson when he was 19-years-old for rape, assault, and theft after an incident on Ruckland Avenue in Lincoln in 2011.

Lincolnshire Police believe that Clawson could be in the Lincoln or Gainsborough area.

Anyone who sees Clawson or knows his whereabouts is being urged to call 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Lincolnshire Police also issued a wanted appeal for William Clawson over threats to kill in March this year.
