Hunt for Grimsby man over train assault

A 27-year-old man is wanted by British Transport Police over an alleged assault on a train between Barton and Grimsby.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Matthew Kirkby from Grimsby after he was previously charged in connection with an assault and possession of a bladed article on board a train in July 2018.

Kirkby, who is believed to have links to Hull, was arrested at the time and released under investigation.

Despite a number of enquiries, officers have since been unable to locate him.

British Transport Police released an appeal on Thursday, August 29 appealing for anyone with information about Kirkby’s whereabouts.

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 1800051180.
