Tributes for couple who died in crash with lorry

Devoted parents and grandparents

The family of an elderly couple has paid tribute to their lives after they died in a crash with a lorry.

Roy and Michele Grainger, 72 and 73 from High Road in Wisbech, were travelling along the A47 in a black Vauxhall Astra on Thursday, August 15.

They were involved in a head-on collision with a heavy goods vehicle.

The family said in a statement:

“Roy and Michele were devoted parents and grandparents.

“Roy moved to London from North Wales to become a police officer and following his retirement he became involved in the Rotary Club and was a season ticket holder at his beloved Everton FC.

“Michele was a nurse and met Roy in London. She was involved in the local church, choir and the Women’s Institute.

“They will be greatly missed by all.”

Cambridgeshire Police is still appealing for information about the collision and has urged anyone with dashcam footage to call 101, quoting Op Stanage.
