Lincoln Christmas Emporium returns with new fairy tale light show

Get ready for some festive fun

Watch the magic unfold as newly imagined fairly tales illuminate Lincoln Castle in a new light show when The Christmas Emporium returns this winter.

After a successful debut in 2018, Christmas stalls offering unique arts, crafts, gifts and locally sourced food and drink will return on Saturday and Sunday, December 14-15, as well as between Wednesday, December 18 and Sunday, December 22.

The highlight of the event, which runs from 5pm-9pm each evening, is a spectacular light show. This year’s light show will mix festive fairy story with local history and legend from Havelok the giant Viking hurling the huge stone which lands within the Castle Walls, to Lucy, the 11th century Countess who ruled the lands, as well as a great dragon and evil wizard.

The event also includes a cosy tipi bar and quality street food vendors and the medieval wall walk will also remain open each night.

The chalet and food concessions will also be open each day between 11am and 3pm. They will also be open through to the evening, but the evening will be ticketed due to the light show and access to the illuminated wall walk.

Tickets are now on sale priced at £8 for adults, £7 for concessions and £5.50 for children. Family tickets are also available for £21.50 – click here to buy tickets. Ticket holders can return to the Emporium as many times as they like. Lincoln Castle annual pass holders can attend for free.

Kimberley Vickers, general manager, said: “The Christmas Emporium is the perfect setting to meet friends and family for a festive catch-up and an opportunity to purchase those last-minute Christmas treats.

“We’re incredibly excited about this year’s light show, which will be a magical unfolding of newly-imagined fairy tales, featuring a giant Viking, 11th century countess, great dragon and evil wizard.

“Their stories are woven together in a festive fairy tale of visual storytelling to inspire and delight. It’s the perfect treat for all the family and sure to get everyone in the festive spirit.”
