Coffee lovers can rejoice as plans for a brand new Costa Coffee drive-thru in Lincoln have been given the green light.
Lincolnshire Co-op applied for planning permission to build the drive-thru and coffee shop on the corner of Wragby Road and Outer Circle Road in Lincoln.
Now, City of Lincoln Council has given the go-ahead for the new development.
Under the plans the entrance closest to the junction will be removed. Site access will come from a widened entrance further along Wragby Road.
The land was previously home to the Bowling Green pub which closed for trading in 2009 and was demolished in 2014.
The car park at the site will be relaid and reconfigured to provide 48 spaces. It currently serves three other commercial units on Wragby Road.
Costa Coffee also runs an outlet within the nearby Carlton Centre retail outlet which will continue to trade when the drive-thru is opened.
The project is being managed by Banks Long and Co.
James Butcher, from Lincolnshire Co-op’s Managing Agents Banks Long and Co, said previously: “This proposed scheme would bring an empty site back into use and give people in Lincoln the benefit of the first Costa Coffee drive-thru in the city.
“It’s a prominent site which has stood empty for some time and its location on the corner of two busy roads means a service like a drive-thru would prove popular.”

Campaigners in the Lincolnshire Wolds have launched a bid to raise £20,000 to fund a legal challenge against a planning inspector’s decision to allow oil drilling in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The inspector authorised Egdon Resources to proceed with oil drilling in Biscathorpe, despite acknowledging the project’s potential harm to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Now, local group SOS Biscathorpe, which has been fighting the plans, is urgently seeking to raise £20,000 to fund their appeal against this ruling. So far, they have raised more than £3,600.
Residents, visitors, and traders have expressed their disappointment following the cancellation of the beloved Lincoln Christmas Market, on what would have been the inaugural day of this year’s four-day event.
Although the poor weather might have deterred some people, the city’s Bailgate area was notably quiet around 12pm on Thursday, typically the time the event usually opens its doors.
