Grand Designs to feature Lincolnshire couple’s stunning home

The amazing project was a challenging one

A Lincolnshire couple who set out to build a £1.2million giant lakeside house on their 16-acre plot will feature on Channel 4’s Grand Designs this week.

Entrepreneur Paul Wilkinson gave himself just one year to complete the challenge in the village of Old Leake near Boston with his wife Amy.

However, it isn’t just an ordinary home, as it is five circular buildings made up of interlocking timber cylinders linked by raised wooden walkways hanging over a fishing lake. Inside there is also a swimming pool, spa and games room.

Challenges are tackled along the way including the devilishly tricky curves and angles of the cylinders and a spiralling budget. The project was hit by a bigger threat when Paul was admitted to hospital for an operation.

Find out how the project went when host Kevin McCloud presents the next episode of Grand Designs at 9pm on Wednesday, September 11.
