Grimsby man jailed for threatening and assaulting female victim

He pleaded guilty in court

A 38-year-old man from Grimsby has been jailed for more than two years for coercively controlling and assaulting his female victim.

Ryan Booth, of Cyrano Way, Grimsby was given the sentence on Tuesday at Grimsby Crown Court after pleading guilty to the offences. The offences happened between June and November 2018.

He was given two years and six months for Coercive Control and one year and six months for Actual Bodily Harm. The sentences will run concurrently.

Humberside Police’s Detective Sergeant Tom Kelly said: “Firstly I would like to praise the victim for her strength and courage throughout the whole investigative process and the court proceedings leading up to the sentencing.

“I know it can be incredibly difficult for someone to come forward when they are being coercively controlled, however I hope that this sentencing gives hope to other victims that there is help available. Please be assured that if you talk to us, we will listen and we will support you.

“We have dedicated teams committed to investigating offences of this nature who work incredibly hard to gather all of the evidence required to secure a sentence – such as this one – keeping our communities safe from criminals.

“I would like to thank investigating officer PC Chris Clarke and everyone else involved in the investigation for working tirelessly to achieve this result, keeping the victim in mind at all times.”
