‘Let’s turn Lincoln green!’ Musical lovers invited to first Shrek meeting

Turn up wearing something green

Fancy a part in Shrek the musical next summer? The Starring Lincoln Theatre Company is urging people to ‘let their freak flag fly’ at a taster event next week.

People from all or no theatre backgrounds are invited to the Waterside Shopping Centre on Thursday, September 26, dressed in green, for a “taste for what could potentially be one of the best experiences of their lives”.

After a sell-out run of Oliver! at Lincoln Cathedral this summer, which also collected four tonnes of food for Lincoln Foodbank and starred over 200 Lincolnshire residents, director Ben Poole is already planning for what is promised to be the city’s biggest community production so far – Shrek the musical.

Shrek will take over the grounds at Lincoln Castle from July 18 to August 1, 2020.

A taster event will take place at the Waterside Shopping Centre on Thursday, September 26 at 7pm. People are being urged to wear something green, immerse themselves in Far Far Away Land and come and have a look at what it’s all about.

The Starring Lincoln Theatre Company said: “Our shows are unique and special, they are huge events in the calendar for so many people and we aim to make every show even more special than the last. So this year we step away from the Cathedral and into the magnificent grounds of Lincoln Castle, it’s going to be a truly wonderful experience for everybody involved.

“As always the show will be 100% driven by the local community, and, if you want to get involved, you’re in!

“I implore people, even if they’re just curious at this stage, to come to the Waterside Centre on Thursday, September 26 at 7pm and get a taste for what could potentially be one of the best experiences of their lives.

Wear something green, immerse yourself in Far Far Away Land, but most importantly just come and have a look!

“People need to know there are many different types of opportunities, there are no barriers to participation, whether you’re an actor, musician, technician, you want to help backstage or perhaps with marketing, whatever it might be, come and see us.”
