He’s behind you! Robin Hood will be stealing from the rich and giving to the poor in the 2019 Christmas Pantomime adventure at the New Theatre Royal this winter.
Television presenter Melinda Messenger and CBBC’s Barney Harwood will star in the Christmas extravaganza between December 3, 2019 until January 5, 2020. However, the shows between December 3-5 are just for schools and the public performances start on December 6.

CBBC’s Chris Johnson, who has starred in all of the theatre’s pantos since Cinderella in 2017, will play the role of Will Scarlett. Zoe Hedge, who is part of Sir Tom Jones’ team on ITV’s The Voice, will play Maid Marian.
Unfortunately Melinda was unable to make Monday’s launch event due to illness and she said: “Panto is such a great Christmas theatre tradition that the whole family can enjoy, I really love the warmth and laughter it brings to everybody and can’t wait to work with Natalie and the team at the New Theatre Royal in Lincoln”.

Natalie Hayes-Cowley, Artistic Director, added: “Robin Hood will be filled with high energy dance routines, outstanding vocalists, comedy and of course added surprises in the script for those stand out ‘wow’ moments. Perfect entertainment for all the family this festive season.”

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas — but not as much in Lincoln — tainted by the absence of the country’s oldest festive market, which was cancelled over safety concerns. Yes, this means that the 2023 Lincolnshire Christmas Market will not take place from Thursday.
With tens of thousands of people googling Christmas markets, it is unsurprising to see a flurry of stories in the nationals about City of Lincoln Council’s decision to cancel the 40-year-old event, which attracted more than 350,000 people in four days last year, and reportedly generated around £15 million for the local economy.
Seeing family, being cosy by the fire, and fun in the snow, contrasted with dark mornings and cold weather, are among the most loved — and hated — things about winter for people in Lincoln.
New research shows that 81% of people admitted they hate the winter season. According to a poll of 2,000 by the Post Office, dark mornings (49%), slipping on ice (44%), and having a cold face (41%), runny nose (38%), and paying the heating bills (34%) are considered the worst things about winter.
