‘Suspicious package’ at Lincoln bus station proves to be everyday item

Police attended the scene

A ‘suspicious package’ found at Lincoln bus station turned out to be an everyday item, police confirmed.

Lincolnshire Police were made aware of a potential suspicious package at 5.43pm on Wednesday, September 25. However, a spokesperson for the force said “it was quickly established that this was a phone charger”.

An eyewitness passing the scene at the time told The Lincolnite that it appeared people were not being allowed through the main exit at the train station and past one section in the bus station.

The bus station was evacuated for a short period of time.

This is not the first time police have responded to a suspicious package which caused chaos at the bus station.

In October 2018, a package believed to have “wires coming out” prompted a huge police and tactical response in Lincoln City Centre, but it turned out to be a ‘genuine bit of lost shopping’.
