A15 Sleaford Road closure extended due to wet weather

A diversion route is in place

Drivers in Bracebridge Heath will face further disruption after wet weather caused the road closure on the A15 Sleaford Road to be extended.

As previously reported, the A15 Sleaford Road closed for 14 weekends starting on Friday, September 6 to finish construction of an Eastern Bypass roundabout.

The closures will be in place from 7pm on Fridays until 6am on Mondays.

The weekend closure started at 6.30pm on Friday, October 18, was initially extended until 6am on Friday, October 25.

Due to bad weather over over the past two weeks, the road closure will be extended by an extra three days. The road is now expected to open at 6am on Monday, October 28.

Once it re-opens on October 28, people will be able to drive on the new roundabout.

The diversion route will be through Waddington via the A607 Lincoln Road, then on to the B1178 White Lane/Tower Lane at Harmston, and vice versa.

Karen Cassar, Assistant Director of Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Wet weather leading up to this extended closure delayed the final earthworks slightly. This then had a knock-on effect on the rest of the works.

“As a result, Sleaford Road won’t be ready to open on Friday morning and will remain closed for an extra three extra days while the team finishes installing kerbing and laying tarmac.

“The good news is that, once it’s re-opened next Monday, people will be able to drive on the new roundabout.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and want to thank everyone for their continued patience while we continue building Lincoln’s new eastern bypass.”

The remaining closures will be in place from 7pm on Fridays until 6am on Mondays, although this could be subject to change.

At the time of writing the remaining dates are as follows:

  • November 1-4
  • November 8-11
  • November 15-18
  • November 22-25
  • November 29-December 2
  • December 13-16
