Assault suspect fleeing cops crashes into parked car, seriously injuring occupant

He has been charged with three offences

An assault suspect led police on a chase through Grimsby before crashing into a parked car and leaving an occupant with potentially life-threatening injuries

50-year-old Nigel Marston of Hardy Close, Hinckley, Leicester has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, causing injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Humberside Police were called by the ambulance service at 9.30pm on Saturday, October 26, who were treating a woman who had been assaulted in the Albert Road area of Cleethorpes.

The suspect was said to have left the scene in a black Seat Leon, which was spotted by officers in the Weelsby Road area of Grimsby.

The vehicle failed to stop when requested and seconds later it collided with a silver vauxhall, which was parked at the side of the road.

The occupant of the Vauxhall suffered potentially life threatening injuries. Police said on Sunday that the person was in a stable condition in hospital.

Marston will appear at Grimsby Magistrates Court during the morning of Monday, October 28.
