A 36-year-old man from Lincolnshire has denied murdering his teenage son, who died from injuries he allegedly suffered 15 years earlier as a baby.
As previously reported, John Doak, of Delgate Avenue in Spalding, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 18, where he faced a murder charge.
He is accused of murdering Jack Mitchell, originally from Laindon in Essex, who died on March 13, 2016 at the age of 15.
A forensic post-mortem examination found the teenager’s cause of death to be a pulmonary infection and pneumonia as a result of injuries sustained as a baby.
Doak appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, October 24.
He pleaded not guilty to a single charge of murder and was granted continued conditional bail.
Mr Justice Edis set a four-week trial for June 22 at Chelmsford Crown Court.
