Major disruption as person hit by train in Lincolnshire

Services have been cancelled and delayed

A person has been hit by a train between Grantham and Newark North Gate, meaning trains cannot run between the two stations.

The incident was reported at around 7am on Wednesday, November 6, the second incident on the railway line in two days.

Some services have been cancelled and there are delays of up to 90 minutes on a number of routes. Disruption is anticipated to continue until around 10am.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) took to social media to share thoughts for the train’s manager, the driver and staff on board the service.

National Rail Enquiries is advising that the following routes are affected:

  • Grand Central between London Kings Cross and Bradford Interchange/Sunderland
  • Hull Trains between London Kings Cross and Hull/Beverley
  • LNER between London Kings Cross and Lincoln / Bradford Forster Square / Leeds / York / Newcastle / Edinburgh / Glasgow Central / Aberdeen

Buses will be running between Peterborough and Grantham from 8.40am.

It’s the second incident on the railway line near Grantham in two days. A person sadly died after they were found on the tracks in the early hours of Tuesday.
