Met Office issues weather warning for more rain in and around Lincoln

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for yet more rain in Lincoln on Thursday.

The yellow warning will be in place between midnight and 11.45pm on Thursday, November 14 as a risk of further heavy rain may increase disruption from flooding.

Heavy rain is forecast for spells on Monday and Tuesday, November 11-12, while Wednesday is expected to be clear and changing to cloudy by afternoon.

The Met Office has also issued guidance of what to expect during Thursday’s weather warning:

  • There is a small chance that communities could be completely cut off, perhaps for several days
  • There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater, causing a danger to life
  • There is a small chance of extensive flooding to homes and businesses which may lead to collapse or damage to buildings or structures

  • Where flooding occurs, road closures are likely, along with bus and train service delays and cancellations
  • Dangerous driving conditions will occur because of spray and flooded roads
  • There is a slight chance that power and other essential services, such as gas, water, mobile phone service will be lost

Nearly 40 flood warnings and alerts affecting Lincolnshire are currently in place as high water levels continue to cause problems in some areas the county.

The heavy rain conditions also caused problems in and around Lincoln last week as some people woke to submerged roads and flooded properties, and it also caused some restaurants on the Brayford to close temporarily.
