End of an era as Sincil Bank is renamed after train company

Lincoln City’s ground has got a new name

It is the end of an era for Lincoln City after the club sold the naming rights to its stadium to LNER.

Sincil Bank has been home to the Imps since 1895 but under a new three-year deal it will now be known as LNER Stadium.

London North Eastern Railway is a British train company which recently added more direct trains from the capital to Lincoln.

The football club confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday morning: “The Imps are proud to announce that LNER (London North Eastern Railway) have agreed a three-year naming rights collaboration which sees Sincil Bank renamed, LNER Stadium.

“More information on this exciting news, including quotes from Imps’ Chairman, Clive Nates will be announced on Wednesday, December 11.”
