Elderly woman rescued from Gainsborough house fire

A fire investigation is underway

An elderly woman was rescued from her home as fire crews rushed to a house fire in Gainsborough on Monday morning.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called to a fire at a domestic property on Woodfield Road at 8.34am on Monday, January 27.

Both crews from Gainsborough attended.

Firefighters are still at the scene at the time of writing, and investigations were ongoing. The cause was later established as an electrical fault in a fluorescent light fitting.

The extent of any injuries is not yet known.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue said: “Both crews from Gainsborough attended and were using breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“One elderly lady was rescued from upstairs and crews also ventilaised the property. Fire investigations are ongoing by fire officers at the scene.”
