Madalyn Davis fell to her death from a cliff in Australia

The mum of a Lincoln model who fell to her death from a cliff in Australia has defended her daughter from “nasty” trolls online.

Madalyn Davis travelled to Australia at the end of last year and planned to start a new life there before she died on Sunday morning.

Tributes flooded in for the “beautiful and inspiring” woman, who went to the Diamond Bay Cliffs at around 6.30am to watch the sunrise with friends.

However, among the tributes from family and friends were “nasty people” who decided to mock the young Instagram model’s death.

Rebecca Smith defended her daughter from trolls online.

Rebecca Smith, Madalyn’s mum, defended her daughter from the comments and asked how they “sleep at night.”

She wrote: “Maddy once said the first time she got trolled ‘mum, this is a good thing the more people comment the better my profile is.’

“So fill your boots you nasty people you are the one that has to sleep with yourselves at night. Madalyn was loved, she had integrity and decency.

“If you need to believe otherwise in order to feel about yourself then that is your pain. I wish you healing to whatever trauma led to you behave this way.”

Some of the nasty comments that surfaced online.

Hundreds of tributes have poured in for Madalyn from her friends, followers and other well-wishers.

Cerys Phillips said: “RIP to one of the most beautiful, inspiring and funny people I had the pleasure to call my friend.

“It seems like only yesterday we were having sleepovers and throwing massive house parties together every other night.

Madalyn Davis posted regularly to her 15,000 followers on Instagram.

“I’m so glad you were able to experience travelling the world like you said you would, and I’m forever grateful to be able to have called you my friend. I love you always.”

Madalyn’s brother has also posted a tribute online which, along with a picture of the two together, simply reads “see you soon, sis.”

Shash A Jordan added: “It was a pleasure knowing you Maddie. You were beautiful inside as well as the outside. RIP.”

She had been on a holiday in Australia.

Mellisa Holden said: “Rest in peace Madalyn Davis, it was a pleasure to have known you. Shocked, to say the least! Condolences to the whole family.”

Jord Salthouse said: “Madalyn Davis you will be missed so much you were always the life of any party and could make anyone smile.

“An absolute joy to party with, someone who brought smiles and laughter to everything we did, and someone that has left us way too soon.

Madalyn Davis fell to her death.

“Life is so cruel and unfair sometimes man. Do not take it for granted and live every second like it’s your last. Rest easy princess. You are forever loved and missed in our hearts.”

Rebecca Thompson said: “The most heartbreaking news that I still can’t believe is real. You were such a talented, funny, kind and beautiful girl inside and out.”

Emergency services went to Diamond Bay to reports a woman had fallen off a cliff before launching an air and water search.

She fell from a cliff at a popular tourist spot.

One concerned family member wrote online that she was unable to get hold of her before another confirmed that Madalyn had died.

Madalyn’s body was found by the search teams at around 10.30am on Saturday.

Her death has prompted calls for more signage and higher fences to prevent more deaths on Australia’s coastline.
