Oh deer! Trapped muntjac rescued by Mablethorpe Coastguard

It was very weak and frightened

A small muntjac deer stuck between some security fencing was rescued by the Mablethorpe Coastguard team on New Year’s Day.

The team were getting ready for the New Year’s dip event when a woman arrived at its station on Enterprise Road at around 9am to alert them about the stranded young muntjac.

The deer was stuck in fencing next to the road around 300 metres from the coastguard station. It was very weak and frightened and the coastguard team believe it had been there for some time.

Two members of the team pulled the fencing apart so another could get the animal out to safety. The animal was checked over by the manager before it was taken to some long vegetation.

The deer recovered well and was later seen “doing fine and hopping about”. Photo: Mablethorpe Coastguard

When the team returned later to check on the muntjac it was “doing fine and hopping about”.
