Police find body in search for missing Woodhall Spa man

Fred’s family have been informed by police

A body was found in the River Witham at Woodhall Spa on Friday afternoon during police’s search for a missing 82-year-old man.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, police believe the body found near Kirkstead Bridge to be that of Fred Gibson, who was last seen in the village on on November 28. His Audi Q5 was parked at 3.15pm on the day he went missing close to the Railway Inn at Kirkstead Bridge.

Underwater search teams took place last month and officers carried out house-to-house enquiries before a body was found on Friday, January 3.

Fred’s family have been informed and have asked for privacy at this time, police said.
