Police name Boston man found in river

A body has been found three after searches began

Police have identified a Boston man found in a river in the town, revealing they believe that he may have jumped into the water just before Christmas.

Lincolnshire Police said they understand the person to be local man Scott Butler, 33.

They have linked his death to reports that a man jumped into the river from the High Street at around 9.45pm on December 23.

Formal identification is yet to take place.

A search began following reports previously that a man was seen jumping in the strong current of the river.

Police and fire crews used drones, a police helicopter and seeking equipment for support with their search.

Officers pulled a body out of a river in Boston at around 8.30am on Wednesday, January 15.

They had been called to reports that a body had been seen floating in the Haven river near to the footpath at Wormgate.

The police do not think that there are any suspicious circumstances connected to the death.

Investigators also said they did not believe the incident was related to an ongoing murder investigation from earlier this week where a man was thrown into the water after a “sustained attack”.
