B&M closing Scunthorpe High Street store this spring

The firm is trying to relocate staff to other local stores

B&M has announced that its Scunthorpe High Street store will close this spring.

The shop, which is situated next to the Foundry Outdoor Shopping Centre, will close on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

The firm is working with colleagues to relocate staff to other local outlets.

B&M Scunthorpe currently has two other stores, which are located at North Lincolnshire Shopping Park on Doncaster Road in Gunness and at Lakeside Retail Park, Queensway.

A B&M spokesperson, said: “We can confirm that unfortunately we’ll be closing our Scunthorpe High Street store.

“We want to thank our customers for shopping with us over the years and we hope to see them in one of other local stores.”

The news angered a umber of local residents. One, Lucy Smith, set up a petition to save B&M, in with she said “if this shop goes that’s another dent to an already dented town”.

At the time of writing it has been signed by 94 people.
