Man arrested over home-made explosive devices found at Lincoln flat

Residents have been evacuated

Police have arrested a 49-year-old man after bomb disposal and tactical support teams raided a flat in central Lincoln.

Investigators said the man was arrested on suspicion of making and possessing an explosive device.

The area around a block of residential properties on Clasketgate was cordoned off by police on the afternoon of Thursday, February 13 and people inside the property were evacuated.

Explosive ordnance disposal teams remained at the property through the afternoon.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “A 49-year-old man has been arrested after a warrant was executed at Clasketgate in Lincoln this morning.

“The EOD are assisting us as a precaution after suspicious items were found that could be small improvised explosive devices.

“Residents have been asked to leave the property but the EOD have deemed further evacuation unnecessary at this current time.”
